Green Literacy was created and founded by Jen Cullerton Johnson and Mary Gove. For the past decade, they have taught, spoken, and facilitated workshops, seminars, and lectures about empowering young people to become environmental leaders. Dedicated and passionate, they have brought Green Literacy into classrooms, schools, corporations, and faith based organizations. Various organizations have recognized them for their contributions to empowering youth to become environmental leaders.
Jen Cullerton Johnson, MFA, MEd. is the author of the award-winning children's book Seeds of Change. She is the teacher who helped found the Karma Garden, a collaborative community garden for incarcerated youth at Cook County Juvenile Detention Center. She is a practicing teacher at Chicago Public Schools and an adjunct writing professor at Wright College. www.jencullertonjohnson.com
Mary K. Gove, Phd is an Emeritus professor at Cleveland State University and is co-author of a leading best selling textbook, Reading and Learning to Read (Pearson), in its 9th edition, which has been in undergraduate and graduate classroom use for over twenty-five years. She has spearheaded several grants to work with teachers in schools on Green Literacy.
